Biblical – Through the integration of biblical, professional, and scholarly knowledge, your communication degree will equip you to change the world as you engage culture with the heart and mind of Christ.

Critical Competencies – Coursework in the major develops critical competencies in leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and a broad range of communication skills necessary for advancement in both employment and graduate school.

Customizable – Working with an advisor, you will choose from three concentrations to customize your degree based on your career goals. Choose from:

• Organizational Communication&�Բ�����;— The organizational communication concentration channels your skills toward internal and external communication in organizational settings. After taking courses like Interviewing, Organizational Negotiation, and Human Resources, you will be able to help an organization communicate internally and hold a competitive advantage externally. Organizational communication holds the organization together and supports it like scaffolding does a building.
• Advocacy Communication&�Բ�����;— Public communication is the interaction brought about when people exchange ideas. It focuses not only on the delivery of messages and ideas but also on how people interact with those messages and ideas. Public communication is at the center of political, economic, and social issues. Courses like Persuasive Theory, Speechwriting for the Professional, and Contemporary Rhetoric will enable you to communicate in a way that impacts others and spurs them toward action.
• Strategic Communication&�Բ�����;— Strategic communication merges the daily activities of an organization with its long-term goals. It encompasses areas like public relations and advertising, to name just a few. This concentration is used not only within corporations but also within nonprofit organizations. Courses like Event Planning, Advocacy Communication, and Organizational Leadership will prepare you to offer strategic, actionable plans to any organization.

Internships

Internships give students real-world work experience within their chosen field. Our students have completed internships with Athletes in Action, Focus on the Family, Hope International, AstraZeneca, among others.

Practical Experience

• Resound Radio&�Բ�����;—&�Բ�����; features a 24/7 stream that can be heard exclusively through CedarNet (Cedarville's campus computer network) and, in addition, offers on-demand programming targeted specifically at the student body of ���Ĺ���.
• Cedars&�Բ�����;—&�Բ�����; is a student-produced, award-winning newspaper that is published several times each academic year.
• The Miracle Yearbook&�Բ�����;— Join the yearbook staff and preserve Cedarville's campus memories for years to come! Whether you’re passionate about writing, design, photography, or editing, you’ll sharpen your creative skills and collaborate to create a timeless keepsake that celebrates your campus community.

Student Organizations

• Lambda Pi Eta&�Բ�����;— Cedarville’s chapter of the National Communication Honor Society recognizes, encourages, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement.
• Marketing Team&�Բ�����;— The Department of Communication marketing team consists of students who develop a plan to market the department to internal and external audiences.

Competitive Teams

• Debate Team&�Բ�����;— The ���Ĺ��� Debate Team competes with colleges and universities across the United States through the NPDA (National Parliamentary Debate Association), which is the largest debate organization in the country. Students who plan on pursuing careers in ministry, law, education, business, or politics are encouraged to join the team.
• Forensics — Forensics is an intercollegiate competition. Students compete in areas such as public speaking, oral interpretations, limited preparation events, and Lincoln-Douglas debate. A Forensics Scholarship is available.
