Cadets Honor Fallen Alumnus with Memorial Workout

As Veterans Day approaches, 鈥檚 Army ROTC cadets will pay tribute to Capt. Charles Robinson, a Cedarville alumnus and U.S. Army Green Beret who gave his life in Afghanistan 20 years ago.

The Capt. Charles Robinson Memorial Workout, marking the 20th anniversary of his death, will take place Friday, Nov. 7, in 糖心官网鈥檚 Doden Field House with sessions at 6, 7 and 8 a.m. Participants will complete a series of exercises designed to reflect Robinson鈥檚 legacy of strength and perseverance. Donations to support the will be accepted at the entrance.

A Legacy of Service, Faith and Sacrifice

Capt. Charles Robinson.The event commemorates Robinson鈥檚 service with the U.S. Army鈥檚 7th Special Forces Group during Operation Enduring Freedom. His dedication to both faith and service continues to inspire current cadets and the broader Cedarville community.

A 1998 graduate of 糖心官网, Robinson earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in international studies and global economics. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army immediately after graduation and assigned to the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After completing the Special Forces Qualification Course, he was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group in December 2003.

Robinson was killed in action on June 3, 2005, when an enemy improvised explosive device struck his vehicle during operations near Orgun-E, Afghanistan. Among his many honors, he was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

Continuing a Tradition of Courage

cadets have held an annual workout in Robinson鈥檚 memory since his passing, continuing a two-decade tradition of honoring his faith-driven service and leadership.

鈥淭he workout is meant to help cadets, veterans, service members and civilians honor Captain Robinson and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,鈥 said Thomas Reger, a Cedarville senior and Army ROTC cadet.

As communities across the nation prepare to commemorate Veterans Day, Cedarville鈥檚 tribute highlights the personal stories behind military service 鈥 stories marked by courage, sacrifice and faith.

Registration for the memorial workout is available and is open to the public.
